If you haven’t received your pre-ordered Girl Scout Cookies yet—you will soon! Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming (GSMW) is resuming its iconic Cookie Program on Friday, May 15th.
The Cookie program was suspended by GSMW on March 20th in the wake of COVID-19 in order to protect the safety and well-being of Girl Scouts and girls’ families. As a result, the movement of cookies was halted which included delivery of pre-orders, additional sales and cookie booth sales.
The Cheyenne area Girl Scouts are excited to resume their cookie program, with booth sales beginning on May 22nd. They will be offering contact-less booth sales at a few local businesses after hours. Cookie lovers will call in to the local business and place their order. Payment will be made over the phone via credit or debit card. The girls will gather the cookie order and bring them outside for immediate pick up. Cookie orders will only be taken on Friday, May 22 from 4 p.m – 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 23 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Two of the businesses participating are Brant Audiology and Tinnitus and Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic LLC. There will also be traditional sales booths set up at both Cheyenne Walmart locations.
Ashley Picard, GSMW Product Manager, thanks the public for their support and patience in the past few weeks and hopes the public’s appetite for Girl Scout Cookies has grown through the hiatus.
“GSMW submitted its cookie order in mid-February and our troops have a large quantity of cookies with girls who are anxious to sell cookies and reach their goals all while following social distancing requirements.”
The program, which typically runs February through April, will now extend through June 30th.
“Girls will be out and about selling cookies beginning May 15th in new and creative ways. Troops may be doing cookie drive-thrus and community walkabouts just to name a few.”
The price of Girl Scout Cookies in Montana and Wyoming remains $4.00 per box with the exception of the limited, specialty varieties (Girl Scout S’mores and gluten free Toffee-tastics) which are $5.00 per box.
“The pandemic changed the timeline of our Cookie Program, but not the purpose of it. The Girl Scout Cookie Program® teaches girls about entrepreneurship as they learn essential skills like money management, public speaking, decision making and—new this year—the economic impact on a small business brought about by a pandemic.”
