US Congresswoman Liz Cheney shared her appreciation for military heroes during the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce's Military September Luncheon presented by High West Energy and Nuvision Credit Union.
Military September is a celebration of our men and women serving in the armed forces. For this reason, there is no one more appropriate to speak during the Chamber's monthly luncheon than Congresswoman Liz Cheney. Cheney has been an extraordinary warrior for military missions in Wyoming, has worked tirelessly to rebuild our military, and update our missile system.
"The only reason we get to have the freedoms that we do, that we get to have the debates we have, that we get to enjoy the blessings and the privileges of liberty, is because we have men and women who will wear the uniform of this nation and defend us," shared Cheney.
Cheney called attention to the United States Air Force's (USAF) mission to modernize the intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) system at FE Warren Air Force Base (AFB). This is the first site in the nation to receive the upgrade.
In discussions surrounding the USAF's deployment decision, Cheney said that the relationship between Cheyenne and FE Warren AFB has been at the very top of the list.
"We are going to work hard to ensure the deployment happens on time, that we get the jobs we need here in Cheyenne, and as well, we get the next generation funded and deployed," said Cheney.
According to Cheney, President Trump is also very supportive of the nuclear modernization mission. During a meeting with the President six months ago, the issue of funding the mission was discussed. Without hesitation, President Trump guaranteed that the country would spend the money necessary to upgrade our nuclear forces and protect our nation.
"We are going to do what is needed, and it's crucial to do what is needed today" said Cheney.
Becoming more self reliant as a nation will also be crucial for the security and efficiency of our nation moving forward. Cheney expressed the importance of protecting ourselves and our supply chains, making more things in the United States, and relying upon Wyoming for rare earth minerals.
With these efficiencies in place, the United States will continue to be an exceptional nation - and we should be proud to share that.
"We should never be afraid of saying that we are an exceptional nation, we are the best nation that ever existed on the face of the earth - in history. We should never be afraid to say that, and we have to teach our kids that," said Cheney.
