The 2nd-annual Cheyenne Animal Shelter Dog Jog Color Run at Holiday Park was a big success last weekend, Saturday August 24. Participants had two events to choose from, a 5k run/walk or a 1-mile dog walk. There were five color stations set up along the 5k course, where participants would be dusted with multiple colored non-toxic powders. The event had over 100 participants and 15 vendors to raise money for the shelter.
The run was just the start of many fundraising events for the day. Freedom’s Edge Brewing Company held Asanas and Ales with $5 of every ticket going to the shelter. Mary’s Mountain Cookies created a dog paw cookie with 100% of the proceeds to the shelter. Lastly Danielmark’s Brewery and Tap Room donated $1 from every beer sold.
They have several more fundraisers coming up, with the first one being on September 5, 2019. Accomplish Beer Company will host a special adoption event on the back patio. Head brewer, Victor Gabriel, is making a special brew, “Waggin Tail Ale” for the event, with all proceeds from the sale going to the shelter.
The shelters new marketing director, Haylee Chenchar, said “I am working on new and different fundraising events and innovative ideas for the shelter to reach all demographics of Cheyenne that want to support the shelter.”
Cat season has hit the shelter. They currently have over 100 cats up for adoption. To help make room they are waiving the adoption fee to all adult cats 7 months old and older. All cats adopted will be microchipped, have all shots and, be spayed or neutered.
